Using Natural Flea Remedy For Your Pets

Some people and their pets may need a natural flea remedy, as they can be allergic to commercial chemical flea treatments that usually work quickly and are very easy to use.

Luckily for both the pet and its owner, there are many natural ways to get rid of fleas.

First of all, you have to wash all bedding, rugs or furniture covers that may have been in touch with your pet, which will surely be just about everywhere in your house. Then take a powered form of dried pennyroyal, of the mint family; or a pyrethrum powder natural flea remedy and sprinkle the furniture and all the possible sleeping places your pet may use. Repeat for another three to four days.

Now, it's the time you have to wash your pet, using a natural shampoo by mixing one cup of dishwashing detergent and two teaspoons of eucalyptus oil. Drop pennyroyal leaves in boiling water and let it cool, before you wash your pet with this natural flea remedy.

After you have shampooed your pet and foamed it with the shampoo, rinse it off with the pennyroyal tea.

Stop The Fleas Before They Bite

A good prevention to get fleas into the house is to plant pennyroyal outside. Supposing that your pet is inside and outside the house during the daytime, try to plant it where your pet goes around while outside. As a natural flea remedy, pennyroyal will grow and will cover the ground. It's very attractive and has a pleasant flowery smell.

You can make a flea trap at home, in order to get rid of them. Place a pan similar to a cookie sheet with some water under a light close to the ground. At night, the fleas will jump towards the light and they will drown as they fall into the water.

Keeping your grass cut short will be a good prevention to get fleas. Flea's eggs won't survive when they receive the heat of the sun. Also, as fleas often lay their eggs in dark wet areas where conditions for hatching are right, try to keep away your pet from those areas.

Another natural flea remedy is to put around your pet's neck a small tube stuffed with pennyroyal and with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. You will have to re-stuff and oiled the tube frequently, may be every few days, to keep it fresh.
